Incredible Happenings at the High School

On Monday July 5th unusual creatures were seen on the school lawn,
But fear not, this has all been meticulously organised.
I couldn’t make it for the morning but our new “Incredible” Andrew was there and took some brilliant photos.
So this blog is a joint effort by Andrew of Crow Pie, and myself.

Now we all know what can result when youngsters get up close with farm animals. But the potential E coli problem has been covered by science.

Or rather by an incredible invention by Paul Murray Science teacher and new head of vocational studies.
The mobile hand wash, the water is heated by a solar shower bag on the back

Great idea Paul, we may need one of those for IET events.
So no need to worry now when you see the kids the cows and the farmer

or even these Gloucester old spot/Tamworth and Saddleback porkers.

But it wasn’t all about the animals, there were classes in building wormeries, and lessons in the life cycle and growing times of plants, like this one by a member of Garden Organic.

Also classes in some of the lost arts like spinning. This looks tricky, but Jo is very good at explaing how it’s done

The biggest event of the day was the food, bound to be really we all eat, some eat to live some live to eat, but it all comes down to good tasty grub in the end.

When it comes to cooking the team at Tod High lead by Tony Mulgrew seen here is hard to beat.
demonstrating techniques to the pupils grips their attention

and whisks up some interest

and with help from Coral they are soon having a go themselves.

Now we all know the proof of a good pudding, (or soup) is in the eating, and Tony’s butter-nut squash and sweet-potato soup is just ecellent I find it is vital that I test that one myself, it is just so tasty, as these students quickly discover.

I think the whole thing was great success, thanks to Tod High, to Garden Organic and the Food for Life Partnership the future looks to be in good hands.
And here is one little furry guy who just invited himself, he enjoyed it all too.

The End.
PS, more of Andrew’s photos of the day can be seen here
