Growing in Shade; school that is
Last update: 3.09.10 First posted: 3.09.10 by Pauline in SchoolsShade School Gardening Club is run by parent volunteers.
The children decorated the planting boxes, sowed the seeds and tended the plants as they grew. The produce was added to our salad bar at lunchtime and enjoyed by our Holiday Club who took over the care of the garden over the summer break.
The children were very proud to be able to exhibit their work at the Todmorden Show and were pleased to receive a commendation from the judges.

Incredible Edible Todmorden has provided Shade School with raised boxes for our playgrounds which the Gardening Club have filled, planted and are now ready for harvest. We are hoping for some very tasty potatoes when they are dug up! IET’s work at Shade has enabled us to increase the area available for planting and has provided an exciting opportunity for hands on learning. Our gardeners now have a much better understanding of where their food comes from too.
