Holocaust Memorial unites Todmorden....
Last update: 30.01.10 First posted: 30.01.10 by Helena in EventsThis week has been Holocaust Memorial Week… and all around the world, communities have been gathering to share and to remind ourselves that some memories cannot be left to perish…
Today, Saturday, IET together with Todmorden Library, took part in a tree-planting ceremony at the side of the library, by the canal… we planted two trees, an Apricot and a Cherry, with some members of Calderdale’s Jewish community, and Locals, who shared food, stories and helped us plant the trees….

Daniel and Emma help plant the Apricot tree…

Representatives from Todmorden communities help, before we all go into the library for yummy food!
Thursday saw Incredible Edible Todmorden’s Helena and Nik, provided a veritable feast of kosher food… (see Mary’s article on food and the community it isn’t just about food) …. at the Holocaust Memorial Week event at the Unitarian Church…

Gefilte fish, falafels and tabbouleh wait for the ceremonial part of the evening…whilst Chicken noodle soup, and Cholent simmer gently in the background…
While Nik’s expertise in the field of kosher baking is a tribute to the Lord Chief Rabbi of Stomach Jews, Florence Greenberg!
