On Saturday the 28th we hosted a great event by Making Local Food Work all about apples and orchards.
delegates came from far and wide, from Durham to the Isle of White and from Suffolk to Liverpool.
Pam Welcomed everyone to Tod and our fabulous Unitarian church

we were surrounded by all things appley

like this great mechanical apple peeler/corer
There were presentations from orchard groups, cider makers,
apple juice producers and abundance groups

Nick talked about Incredible Edible Growing Ltd
and the fruit trees now grafted at Walsden and sold in Riggs garden centre.

all around were scions available for grafting onto the route stock of choice

While everyone was engrossed the lovely folk from Whistle Stop were busy at the back of the church cooking our lunch, to tasty hearty vegetable stews.

.
As soon as we had eaten John lead a group off to do a bit of pruning at the health Centre and Rhona and Jenny took two groups on mini tours of the town. There were still more folk keen on a look at what we do so grabbing my coat I took a group out too.
Our group went via the IET adult learning stall on the market

where we all got hot tasty treats from Michaela at the IET adult learning stall
Then it was time to head back for the fun and informative workshops.

No one ever comes away without learning something new or having made new friends, that makes these events are always Incredible
