Markets and marketing Paris Style

Sevran on the paris outskirts is a suburb bustling with immigrants, mostly north african, and no suprise to us it has the best market we have seen in France.
There is energy and vitality, a keen intent to sell, stallholders shout thier prices, deals are the name of the game, its bustling, exciting functional and entertaining. The prices were the best we have seen helping to stretch pinched bugets.
Its not tidy, its not elegant, it might not even be safe all of the time, but it is brilliant!
It leads me to reflect on our market in Todmorden, the dulling effect of regulation zealously enforced. Pehaps we have all become too prosperous?
In Sevran the market is a foothold for immigrants , Tod market is something entirely different, but maybee there are lessons to learn here.
