Organic art for an organic garden

Yes it’s this way to the organic garden in Tod High School. This summer artist Sarah Yates, former pupil of the school, was invited back on commission by her old art teacher Mrs Ward. This time she was workshop leader not student.

The school wanted a mural that would invite guests into the organic garden. Working from Sarah’s advice on techniques and using images of fruit and veg, here’s a taste of what the Year 8 group created.

Sarah tells us that the great thing about spray paint is it dries in seconds, you can correct it straight away – and it’s really effective on a large scale. View more pictures from the workshop in our gallery here. All courtesy of the artist, thanks Sarah.
Meanwhile: can you spot the ex-student among the students? Yes that’s her in the green dress :) Read more about Sarah’s work, often with organic materials, at faunagraphic here,.
