What has Paul been doing recently?

As usual, treading the boards and doing the incredible spreadable stuff…A few recent talks that have been good fun and prompted lots of interest were the Westminster Parliamentary meeting on sustainable schools in 31 March, where I spoke to an audience of MP’s, designers, local authority staff and consultants on new horizons for the school as a sustainable food hub, NESTA Co-production conference in Manchester on 7th April where i spoke about the lessons we are learning, and the possible new directions this type of activity creates for resilient communities, the Plymouth Sustainability Conference on 14th April, talking about urban land use and the strategic design of new initiatives such as incredible edible and school of sustainability, 10 May I was back in Westminster with the all party parliamentary group on food security, and then yesterday at the Chesterfield Transition Towns annual general meeting. Next week back with the all party parliamentary group on agriculture and food for development.

What is Paul thinking about?

At the moment a great deal of my time is being spent looking into the idea of urban growing schemes and the ways in which we can establish a set of key lessons for growing in urban spaces. The basic design and layout is already done and is available on the www.school-of-sustainability.com site. I have been working on the design possibilities for open source sustainability which is going to be linked into the-urban-farm.net project due to happen soon – so lots of different ways that the little things we do can begin to be captured and understood and shared, so the growing experiments, the clever ideas for doing daily life more frugally, are being captured and put into a web-based resource for sustainable living – linked closely to stuff we are learning from Incredible Edible, and through the networks around the
world we have been creating over the last few years.

If people want to contribute, have any film, blog links, pictures etc and want to share them, send stuff to me on email at hello@school-of-sustainability.com
