Having left you, dear reader, at the real start of our journey into pig keeping, I shall continue, if somewhat disjointedly, to tell some of our experiences.

The very first and possibly most important thing that we learned, is that pigs are very strong willed, as well as physically strong, and in an all in push and shove, one on one the pig will win every time, pig board or no pig board.

A pig board is a large square of wood with a hole cut in to hold it by, which you place between yourself and the pig you wish to move in order to direct said pig in the right direction.

The most effective and fail safe way to make a pig do anything is a bucket of food. something they especially like in a bucket and they become putty in your hands.
Do not however stand halfway down a steep hill and call a dozen porkers by rattling a bucket, that is if you wish to stay upright, the speed of porkers running downhill at full pelt is terrifying and will end you flat on your back minus bucket.
Lesson one learned.
Now we have the pig farm and we are in charge.

Or at least we thought we were, then Rabbit the Saddle Back gilt came into our lives and………………………………. that is for another time
