Last update: 2.03.10 First posted: 2.03.10 by Nick inFuture Jobs Fund team strikes again, college beds get the grass between dug out, weed fabric and woodchip put down and here, beds are painted….

All done in a day, way to go team!
Lots of people stopped for a chat or just smiled approvingly as they passed, this ladys talking to our jeff.

Back in the Greenhouse the sunny day opened the automatic vents for the first time ever. (Eagle eyed safety inspectors might like to know that we do have a RCD on that extension lead, it goes to two heated propagators).

Seeds of many kinds planted recently, for the beds all around town

and some salad crops planted in the ground a few weeks ago showing their heads

Another tree delivery, Red devil apples and Wisley crab, both very ornamental and productive. Red devil has bright red fruits, saw it producing well at Callis mill last autum, and Wisley crab, wonderfull pinky purple flowers and full sized dark red fruits, very tart, ideal for cooking.
And, wait for it, more rhubarb, 30x well rooted Timperney Early in 3 litre pots, how could we resist, it will do well for the health centre.
All this from New Place Nurseries in West Sussex.
We also recently had delivery of several nut trees, mostly hazelnuts and a walnut, plus some Celeste cherries on colt rootstock from Agroforestry Research Trust in devon, who have a very interesting cataloge.
