The Sun Shines on Tod
Last update: 26.08.10 First posted: 25.08.10 by Estelle in BlogsNot that big shiny one in the sky, but the newspaper with a circulation of 2,979,999
That is nearly 3million readers, even those who only buy it for the lovelies on page three got the Incredible Message. Fridays Page Three girl Staci lives just 33 miles away in Preston and said that our strategy was economically and ecologically sound, and that we have transformed the local environment.
The idea was to visit Tod, do interviews and take photos prior to HRH The Prince of Wales visit next month, but they ended up writing an extra stand alone piece that came out Yesterday, read it on the Sun Website Or pop along to the police station, where you can read it on the notice board.

We met the Sun’s Royal photographer Arthur Edwards MBE who took all the following brilliant photos.

and Stewart Whittingham Ace Reporter here with umbrella.
Tea and coffee in the Bear where Arthur captured our Pam who explained to them
what we where all about, Arthur really gets it, he understands exactly, even drives a hybrid electric car. Pam had to go to a meeting so after an interview with Pauline, we went on to Mary’s garden, I told them about sharing gardens creating new friendships and kindness.

OK so now my terror of talking to reporters from probably the biggest daily in Britain had abated to just plain fear, would they see the Tod I know and love.
As we passed the car park herbs at Fielden Square, Pauline had to leave, so it was down to me to show the town in a good light, was I up to the job?

I realized I needn’t have worried at all, they were so kind and friendly I was soon at my ease happy to take them around. The college is looking good.

we went to visit the some of the National school growing club in the graveyard,

The children were totally relaxed and happy to show off their veg beds,
crossing the road the guys were very surprised by Tod Cop Shop.

I think they were as impressed by our fab police as the corn growing there.
Heading back toward town we called in at the Acorn where they met the mayor and Margareta showed off some IET veg

across the road some of the fjf workers were busy at the Ormerod

A visit to the market next, where they met some of the butchers who sell locally reared meat, using IET blackboards to show what animals were reared where. Bracewells

and Mellings

On to the health centre and we visit the Apothecary garden

We walk from there along the tow-path to the canal side fruit and veg plot

Finishing with a tasty lunch at Costermongers, Arthur caught a customer reading Tod News. How brilliant is that?
Big paper snaps small local paper, just love these guys.

You can see Arthur and Stewart at work on the busy woman blog here
I am happy to see the Sun any time in Tod, but specially look forward to seeing them back here in September. Thanks guys for a fab day, a great article and some amazing photos.
