Trees an Eveyfink! Rumpoles week

The big push was for fruit tree planting, we have 250 to plant and that’s lots, we (Acorn centre’s Future Jobs Fund Team and I) started last thursday at the walsden land, heres the lads stake bashing…

and some more by lightbank lock.We plan to put 100 on the walsden field around the perimeter, weve about 60 planted so far.

And saturday we were at Norris Bank primary in Stockport giving a talk,here’s the very brillo head laying down the law to the 130 or so participants…

how did this lammykins get in here? oh yes, we nipped up to staups lee farm.

heres the new beds at the police stn, the narrow troughs are for flowers, bah, humbug!

and heres some proper stuff, garlic and plenty of it at ferney lee olde folks

lots of seed planting going monday in the greenhouse, these are sugar mapole tree seeds from agroforestry research in devon.

and heres a good spot for sugar maple trees, the land were clearing behind the olde folks home.

monday evening we were at St edwards primary installing a mini aquaponics demmo unit and giving a talk. St edwards is brillo with mini goats and chickens raised beds and a greenhouse, pluss a pond full of big carp which could make the basis for a great aquaponics system. Congrats to the head for setting all thst up, its very impressive!

Tuesday was a building things day in the olde folks home, two big cold frames built to house sprouted seedlings, not to mention 100 2m tree stakes cut and pointed and tree taggs stamped.
Back in walsden tree planting wendsday, Lots of the holes we dug last week had filled with water so we had drainage channels to dig. Heres steve testing for rain mebby?

and thursday at Longfield digging in the final raised bed on Longfield way

and planting trees. There is going to be 50 at least at longfield, about 40 in the ground so far.

bit more work on the land back of the olde folks friday, and we planted 9 more trees at the front including a beautifull Wisley Crab.

and they came Bearing news of big brother Elad’s efforts to build a veg patch in the garden near Haifa.


Elad is 18 and will be joining the army in the next few weeks for three years national service, lets hope all that is productive wholesome and peaceful. Nothing could make this Unkle prouder, darling boy.
