It’s just Incredible!

We have lots of people visiting the town these days to see all the Incredible Edible planting and to ask questions, it shows that there are many groups of like minded folk in all parts of the country which is just fab.
It also gets Tod known and brings people to the town, people who shop and or buy lunch, thereby helping local cafes and shops and the market.

Last Monday March 1st we had two groups One group from Scarborough came over and I met them at the health centre. After looking at the raised beds, fruit trees and bushes, and the kitchen physic garden, we went on to Mary’s sharing garden where I explained how everything grown is for everyone to pick and share.
On to Fielden wharf which is now a famous veggie landmark that has put Tod on the map, and not just in the UK but around the world. Isn’t it amazing what growing veg can do to promote a community.
We then walked through the town taking in the Ormerod centre, the newly built raised beds in front of the college, now a lovely shade of Todmorden green, we looked at the beds between the graves at Christchurch and on to the herb garden on Burnley Road.
Then it was time for a chat with Nick at Ferney Lee, where we joined another group from Preston.

Nick explained all about IET and did a questions and answers session.

He then took the group from Preston back the way we had just come to show them what we are doing.

Meanwhile the lovely folk from Scarborough stopped off at 72 for a good lunch before making their way home, and I now have an open invitation to visit Scarborough how good is that!

I feel I must stress to anyone considering visiting, we are a valley and some of our growing sites are uphill, just so you know that although there are some sites on the level others aren’t.

But we do hope that anyone who comes to take a look likes what they see, and gains an insight into what they may be able to do in their communities.
