Wishing you a Wonderful Joyous Chanukah, now with added recipe, already!
Last update: 14.12.09 First posted: 13.12.09 by Nick in BlogsMay your plate runneth over with lovely grub!
latkes, doughnuts, chips, falafel, anything fried will do, but latkes is best.
Here’s the recipe, sort of………
Latkes.
A few spuds, grated,
A onion chopped small
a small handful of matzos meal, or breadcrumbs, or flour, or (Fresh) Gram flour.
An egg (not needed if you use gram flour)
pepper,
salt

I grate the spuds fine and squeeze as much water out as poss by hand, then mix with finely chopped onions. The matzos meal or breadcrumbs,or flour help absorb the water and bind it a bit, and the egg or gram flour helps too, except if you use gram flour it’s getting a bit more like bhajees, not that that’s a bad thing!

Make it into grotesque shapes like a dalek’s innards and deep fry, i use olive oil. You need to keep the temperature down to cook right through. Or you can shallow ,ish, fry flatterned burger shapes if you must! But don’t let my momma see you!

Eat hot, enjoy!
