Swap “How green is our valley,” for “How green is our seaside,” and you will have to say very green if these proposals in Brighton move forward.
Brighton and Hove Council have caught the Incredible Edible bug, having seen what Calderdale did for us with the land licences.
Now they have plans to allow residents to grow food on patches of BHC spare land.
They say the move would emulate the Incredible Edible Todmorden scheme.
Council officials are surveying available land and finding out what interest there is from residents. This comes in part from Harvest Brighton, a project which recently won £500,000 of lottery funding to increase the number of people growing food locally. Part of the scheme dubbed Breaking New Ground aims to create new vegetable gardens from unused plots.
That is why we think Brighton Rocks.
