UNUSED land in Ludlow could be transformed into a temporary market garden if a businessman in the town has his way.
Graeme Perks believes that the initiative – based on a scheme in the Yorkshire market town of Todmorden – could be developed in Ludlow.
There are huge areas of publicly- owned land that are doing nothing but growing grass, which we have to pay to get cut,” said Mr Perks. “How much better to use this land to grow locally-produced vegetables that can then be sold in local shops and farmers’ markets with the money being reinvested in community projects.
