Community Herb Gardens

IET’s herb garden on the Burnley Road opposite the park entrance has been a great success. Yes, all our herbs are legal and excellent for zapping up your cooking.

It’s the fifth year for this and the herb garden at Todmorden Station, originally courtesy of Todmorden in Bloom. And if you’re a commuter waiting for a train why not yank out some of those naughty weeds while you wait, then reward yourself with a deliciously smelly sprig or two!

What’s more, IET have gone on to create an apothecary’s garden next to the car park of the new Health Centre. Yes, herbs can aid good health as well as tasting yummy. So Herbs now have have their own section of the website, with a herbal, recipes and featured herb of the month: click here.

Contact Helena Cook if you want help in establishing a community herb bed. Pennine 2000 tenants can contact their landlord for a free pack and advice.

And until our herbal recipes get going in the herbs section, check out the blog What’s cooking in Tod for ways to use herbs with other local produce.
