Fishy food hub

We’ve made a lottery bid for funds to create a full-scale fish farm at Tod High School. That bid was successful, subject to planning permission, which we’ve now applied for (Winter 2010/11).

If Calderdale Council give their consent, nearly £1/2m will be released to create a state-of-the-art facility to grow fish and salad leaves, which will not only be food for High School pupils, but also food for thought, with learning facilities linked in.

The planning application reference is 11/00061/FUL. You can check its latest progress on the Council website here.

The project is run by a limited company jointly run by IET, the school and the primary care trust, with help from the Green Business Network. There are more details about how we’re organised here.
