Growing around Town
Veggies are growing at Ferney lee Old People’s Home, on Fielden Wharf,
at the Abraham Ormerod Centre, outside the college, in the railway station car park and mixed with flowers in planters throughout the town. These all need planting, maintenance and cropping. If you can help contact iet_hothouse@btinternet.com.
Herb gardens
We have our Apothecary garden at the Health centre as well as our established herb garden on the Burnley road opposite the Cricket Club, and herb beds established on the railway station platforms (see the Herbs section and Community herb gardens). These all need weeding tweaking scratching and sniffing! Just do it or to get more involved e mail helena.
Building Adopting and maintaining Planters

Guerrilla planting
Edibles are popping up all over, you just don’t know where those naughty seeds/plants/bushes/trees/forests will spring up next!
Look out for watercress in the streams in the park, this patch is behind the cricket pitch, help yourself, and if you would accidentally pop some in another stream…
Bag some council land
We have established a simple legal framework with Calderdale M.B.C to transfer council land to IET for growing. There are forms of licences for orchards, planters and growing plots. We are now able to able to bag spaces throughout the town. If you know of a good space, let us know at iet_hothouse@btinternet.com.
