Whatever skills you have, you can be incredible
All IET community volunteers are unpaid, but having “volunteer at Incredible Edible Todmorden” on a CV can help when applying for paid work; that makes it win, win all round, so come and join us.
Some of the things you might like to volunteer for are-
Consummate Compost er – We need you to help make compost in the many community compost crates around town. This means chopping up the material in the crates and picking out rubbish, litter and such; and incorporating muck which needs to brought from stables (probably less than once a month), John and his car available during week-days, some weekends to help with this.
Your own loppers and secateurs, large fork and shovel would be really helpful. This would only take a couple of hours per session but would be a massive help.

EggHead – no, no checks on IQ but we are looking for someone to co-ordinate the Every Egg Matters group. Part of our campaign is to make every egg a Tod egg. We need display materials updating/creating to promote this; a group co-ordinated to promote this campaign further and raise awareness; chicken champions who can advise others about keeping chickens; building hen houses; encouraging back yard chicken keeping; exploring models for small business around local eggs
Communicator – someone to join Mary and Alan, Estelle and Carol gathering campaign stories; recording people’s experiences; creative ways of documenting the journey of IET (film/multi -media)
IT Buff – to help with websites reasonable knowledge of IT needed. -training in our site format given
Tech Guru – nerd needed for help with all things computer related, sorry no training for this, but you may need to train us.
Primary School Champion – someone with knowledge of schools to support Primary schools in their growing and their Food Agenda (given that FFLP is going to dissolve in December) This person to also sit in on the Learning group
Pre School Group Organiser – someone to facilitate a pre school group at the Sunday Sessions at the church. This group should be self running if co-ordinated by our champion. To organise fun activities for little ones around food and growing. Part of this could be linking in with e.g over 50’s who could teach little ones about growing
Over 50’s Growing Guru – to sit in on the learning group. Yes it’s a comfy seat. To share knowledge and skills with young people/ community groups?
Small Business Promoter – to act as a link and support/ promotion for small local businesses either already set up or wanting to set up. Facilitate focus group for local producers
Events Organiser – someone to co-ordinate community events
Trainer/Tutor – willing to share skills, informally or formally with others about growing/ cooking/baking /producing food.
Promoters – people willing to stand on stalls at public events promoting IET – training provided
Tour Guides – folk with passion to be part of a group to be called on to take visitors around town – training provided.
Display Bod – to create and set up and organise displays for stalls and events.
Fund-raisingers – to come up with imaginative and exciting ways to bring in funds.
Apothecaries – Herbalist and herb specialists and anyone else with a working knowledge of herb growing, to be part of our Health Centre Growing team. Especially needed is someone to co-ordinate information and displays for use within the health centre, to educate about the Apothecary garden.
We just need lovely people, leaders, folk who are, caring and passionate about the planet, this may be YOU.
