Popular before the large-scale advent of antibiotics, Echinacea improves resistance to infection and increases the white blood cell count. It’s been widely used for colds and flu, and for blood poisoning, bites, gangrene, v d and abscesses, improving the function of the immune system.



We owe our knowledge of this plant to Native Americans, who are believed to have adopted its use when they observed that sick elk seemed to seek it out, which is why some call it ‘elk root’.
