Southern Wood

southernwoodArtemisia abrotanum

An aromatic bitter, also known as lad’s love, used for digestive problems, particularly those related to the liver. Also used as an insect-repellent and, in Germany, on poultices and bandages. Culpepper recommended it to bring on menstruation, and it is also believed to kill intestinal worms like its cousin wormwood.

The French call southernwood garderobe (closet) because it deters moths.
