Edible Garden Show award

On Friday 20th March I travelled to London to the Edible Garden Show at Alexander Palace. I was going to collect the award for the Best Community Growing Project, for Incredible Edible Todmorden, as nominated by readers of Grow Your Own Magazine and judged by Anne Swithinbank.

This was a great honour, and receiving the award from James Wong, and sharing a glass of bubbly afterwards with the team from Grow Your Own, was lovely.

However just as lovely was the trip Estelle and I made this Friday the 27th to Burnley. We were going to meet Diana Hudson, she is the lovely lady who nominated us for the award and as she has restricted mobility she was unable to travel to London for the award presentation. So we went to show her the certificate and to thank her in person. We also took her a copy of the book ‘Plant Veg, Grow a Revolution’.

We had a fascinating tour of her garden, lots been done, lots to do like most of our gardens. However we are sure that Diana’s will end up looking spectacular – wish I could be as confident of my own!

So thank you Diana for the nomination, thank you Anne Swithenbank, and thank you Grow Your Own magazine. We shall use the Garden Tokens which came with the certificate to continue our work.
