The first Sunday in September had a little more than just our work party gardening.
At 12 in a joint IET Calderdale WDM group we showed Simon Cunich’s thought provoking film about food sovereignty
growing change film at the Unitarian
which probes Venezuela’s efforts to develop a more sustainable way of production, food sovereignty puts people who produce, distribute and consume food at the centre of food systems instead of markets and corporations. The film was followed by a lively discussion at times comparing the Venezuelan model with what we are doing in the UK.
There were herb posies for film goers to take away

and an incredible lunch provided by Hilary

There was no charge just a dish for donations to Todmorden food drop in

Everyone was very generous and Hilary was delighted to receive the donation from John Rogers at the end of the event.

At 2pm the gardening volunteers went of to work on the town centre beds, while some of us stayed behind to wash up and tidy.
It was a very thought provoking day
