From The Valleys to the ValleyLast update: 19.09.12 First posted: 19.09.12 by Estelle in Tours
We had a welcome in the hill side today
for a group of visitors all the way from Wales. It was a long drive by coach so as soon as they arrived we gave them hot drinks
and tasty cakes, all home made and fabulous.
There was courgette and lemon cake, parsnip and maple syrup, and scrummy beet root and chocolate, plus dainty cup cakes and brownies.
Mary gave them a presentation and had everyone enthralled as she ran through her slides of police station planting and the fire station cherry trees. it was great to see folks tucking into home make cake while mary talked about home grown vegetables and kindness.
After the presentation we divided into three groups, one guided by the inimitable Richard, one by grower extordinaire Jenny and one by yours truly.
We went off in three different directions showing our guests all the town centre growing and the green route returning to the Unitarian for hot drinks and more lovely cake. While Mary answered any questions and the rain stopped long enough for a group photo outside
It was a very successful day, I think we may be getting the hang of the veggie tourism now.
They say practice makes perfect, hope that’s right, because there is another 50 seater coach coming next month and we want our guests to have a perfectly lovely time and go away full of incredible ideas for there own towns.
