Haggis and 'Neeps

Burns’ Night And what better way to celebrate than with a fantastic Haggis from Stanfield’s on Halifax Road.


Haggis and Neeps

You will need…

  • A Haggis…from most local butchers
  • 6 large Potatoes
  • 3 Turnips
  • 3 Carrots (optional)

What to do… and this is so easy…..
Wrap the haggis (still in its skin) in tin foil, and place in a large saucepan….cover with boiling water, and simmer for about 45 minutes to an hour, with the saucepan lid on.

Meanwhile, peel and chop the potatoes and turnips and carrots if you’re using them..put them in a pan and boil for about 25 mins until soft. Drain and mash all the vegetables together, with plenty of salt, pepper, and butter…

Delicious with a Whiskey Mac!! (1 part whiskey 2 parts Ginger Wine)
