It’s going to be an incredible day
Saturday May 18th is ‘Todmordens Incredible’ day right through to the early evening.
Incredible Edible, Todmorden Market Traders and Tod Business Association are working together to spread the word, promote local businesses and give everyone from two to ninety two a really great day, supported by Tod Pride and Calderdale Council.
Our market, both inside and out will be full to bursting with local food, to buy and to taste, with Bridestones Brewery providing a welcome glug to wash it all down. Add to that, Incredible Edible will be on Pollination Street demonstrating how to cook tasty meals on a shoe string.
Then there’s Made in Tod in the Town Hall both Saturday and Sunday, showcasing the diversity of services and products available from local traders, plus Tod Tourist Information wetting our appetites for next years Tour de France that passes close to Todmorden and is the world biggest free sporting event. Not to be missed.
Water Street will be celebrating too with its ‘feel the grass between your toes’ happening.
Volker Stevin will be laying turf at either end of the street to bring the park into the centre of our town. People will be asked to tie their dream for Todmorden to our Dream Wall which we will then present to the town council.
Finally, in Central Methodists, Incredible Edible is running a really exciting planning and information day.
Planning and design specialists alongside local experts will be exploring what Tod might look like if it capitalised on local food as a way of creating enterprise and jobs. A slice of Tod self build group will be on hand to talk about their scheme, and Tod Pride will show their new exiting plan for the gateway site on Halifax Road
Members of the markets steering group will be asking you for your opinion about the town taking over running our market, and Incredible Edibles will taking questions about what we’ve been up to and what everyone else can do to promote the great stuff going on in our town.
And that’s just the day.
In the evening, from 4.30 to 7pm the market is transformed into a Street Party. Local food stalls selling everything from curry to cakes, Mediterranean snacks to beef burgers.
All this to the sounds of the SKI five piece band, buskers, dancers and our very own Elvis impersonator.
Why would you want to be anywhere else.
There will be stalls for kids to play games or draw on and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the flavours of locally produced food.
Supporting local businesses has never tasted better.
