We didn't need the watering can!

We did bring one along but a watering can was certainly not required this morning when a group of stalwart incredible volunteers replanted the bed beside Library Lock.

This bed is part of the Green Route and is particularly aimed at supporting the bees and other pollinators so vital for our growing. The original plants suffered a great deal when the bed was shuttered off from all light when the Library roof was being repaired so replanting was called for.

It started off dry but by 10.30 the rain had started to fall and just did not stop – but neither did our volunteers.

Getting more and more soggy they continued to weed and plant out and now the bed is looking so much better, and by next spring and summer it should be a picture and much enjoyed by visitors of both the human and the insect variety.

Many thanks to all who worked so hard and to Mick Harrop, the area manager for the Upper Valley for Safer, Greener, Cleaner Communities, Calderdale and his team for the plants.
